Exploring the Riverwood Preserve

A spirited walk through a steamy wood gave, to the hike's participants, new meaning to the word 'preserve'. Yes, the trees and plant life of this riverside ecosystem had been saved from the selfishness of man by like minded activists and environmental crusaders; that part is true enough. But as stone walls snake with ambition through lush fern groves, it became clear that additionally preserved was the centuries old labor of the first American colonists and farmers. It's here that we again get to experience the interaction between people and nature, and judge how each had fared as time, and our party, marches forward.
