Diamond Back
Diamond Back was created as a companion piece to the ladder and baton patterns. Similar to Baton, this piece was crafted from simple exploration with shapes and line. Gotta love that translucent ruler.
Simple Ladder
Simple Ladder is exactly as it sounds - a simplified version of our Ladder pattern. We reduced the print to just three colors for a more graphic, less linear effect. We like them both.
Double Topo
Throughout India and East Asia can be found a stunning and awe-inspiring feat of human ingenuity. Rice paddies, terraced and stacked into steep hillsides are stained glass stairways to the clouds. Pools of still water resting in earthen platforms adorn the landscape with commanding intricacy. Double Topo was hand drawn and layered to capture this topographical wonder.
Star Grid
The star is as powerful of an image as it is movingly mysterious. Perhaps that is what has drawn humanity to it so consistently; the presence of the star form over hundreds of years of art and design appears ubiquitous. We too are drawn to this celestial figure and thus we designed Star Grid.
Rambling Weed
Rambling Weed speaks to the quiet beauty of those discounted plants and creatures often maligned for being less lovely than their more storied counterparts. Moths and weeds, with understated poise and balance, are given special prominence in a space historically reserved for butterflies and roses.
Secret Garden
Secret Garden was designed while Cat was pregnant with her son, Liam. She wanted to design a pattern for his room that evoked the childhood she hoped he would have: full of outdoor adventures, bugs in pockets, discovering the beauty of nature. There are lots of hidden creatures in here, many of whom Cat remembers finding in her backyard as a kid.
Forest Floral
The darkness of a deep wood. The flowers hiding therein, nestled in dense brush amid beds of lush moss and kept company by colonies of proud mushrooms. Here, rooted in the loamy fertility of their coppice sanctuary, life grows on life.
Approach
Cat Judice Textiles is an American textile design company founded by artist and maker, Cat Judice. Her work is ultra-vivid, each pattern telling a story and conveying a sense of movement and place. The collection is also quite varied, some patterns drawing directly from nature and others drawing from something more mathematical or man-made.
The approach to brand copy and the product descriptions therein was to match the cerebral quality of the work while highlighting the individualism of each piece. Applied coats of whimsey, realism, and calls to action peppered throughout web and printed collateral create cohesion while maintaining the independence of each pattern.
